Stress Reduction Through Food

I remember the very last time that I journaled my food. I was sitting at my computer, my eating had been "good" the week before, and I gained 1lb., SOOO disappointing! Doing all of this so that eventually, one day, I could be as thin as I wanted to be.


I remember thinking to myself, "There has got to be a better way." And there is, but it wasn't what I thought.


What I finally figured out was that we should eat and enjoy the process of nourishing our bodies. Eating to keep our weight down, or to be thin, is counter productive to being truly connected to your inner needs. Just eat to nourish, and then love the nourishing, enjoy it.


There may be some work that needs to be done in order to get to this point, but it is so worth the effort. Seriously, life is so much better this way.


The Diet and Nutrition cultures are so formidable, and entrenched into the minds of our society today. Fat phobia is real - and it effects almost everyone in one way or another. My wish for you is to release all of this baggage that almost always creates negativity and self regulation to our detriment.


Intuitive eating has truly helped me to release the hold of the diet mentality and its grip on my heart and mind. I have learned how to enjoy food and life again.


The steps to intuitive eating include:

1. Reject the diet mentality

2. Honor your hunger

3. Make peace with food

4. Challenge the food police

5. Discover the satisfaction factor

6. Feel your fullness

7. Cope with your emotions with kindness

8. Respect your body

9. Movement -- feel the difference

10. Honor your health with gentle nutrition

Through these 10 steps I have found a way to get off of the roller coaster of dieting. I have learned what food is to me, what my body is, and enjoy all of it.


Let me mention, I am not against losing weight, I just don't want you, or me, to be tormented by it any longer.


So back to the beginning paragraph, what is that better way? Learning to go with my body, not force it, finding love instead of disgust, and accepting myself, wherever I am, however I am, and enjoy the fact that it doesn't need to change.

I don't need to change.

I can be happy just as I am.

So can you.
