The Way You Move Can Change Everything!

Our bodies love to break free from the mundane, linear movements and often stagnation of everyday life. It can feel like being a bird that’s been let out of its cage to fly around and be free.

In this session, we’ll move in ways that feel natural, playful, and deeply connected to the rhythms of our own bodies. Think spirals, circles, figure eights—fluid, flowing motions that echo the patterns found within us, even down to the way our cells and DNA dance and swirl.

We’ll take inspiration from how children move—free, curious, and unfiltered. Rolling on the floor, jumping, hopping, skipping, sliding, twirling… nothing is off-limits. We'll explore movement in all directions and fully use the space around us.

It’s about freedom, exploration, and reconnecting with the joy of simply moving as you are.

To create more clarity and understanding, I have broken down some of the most prominent purposes of the curriculum of DanceAlchemy:

#1  Mind/Body Centering

This practice helps us tune into the connection between our body and mind—bringing awareness to how they’re always in relationship with each other. From that awareness, we move and act in greater alignment with ourselves. And in that alignment, a more profound sense of knowing unfolds.

There are many ways to explore and support this process: breathwork, movement, visualization, sound, touch, art-making, meditation, or simply resting in open awareness. Each path offers its way back to connection, presence, and inner truth.

#2  Full Body Breathing

Breath is our life force—it keeps us energized and alive, flowing through every part of our body. It’s not just something we do; it’s something we feel. Breath is movement on the inside, and it supports how we move on the outside.

When we move, our breath changes with us. Tuning into our breath allows us to notice where we might be holding tension or stuck energy. As we bring awareness to it, we create space to release those blocks, allowing more ease and flow in both body and mind.

#3  Free-Form Movement

Freeform movement and conscious dance can be incredibly healing. They give us a way to move through old stories, emotions, and limiting beliefs—not just in the mind but through the body, where so much of that is held. They can help release stuck energy and return us to a more balanced, grounded state.

We already know that dancing boosts endorphins and makes us feel good, but there’s even more happening beneath the surface. As we move, we shift out of the busy, thinking part of the brain and drop into a more meditative state. In this space, creativity opens up, intuition sharpens, and we access inner wisdom that’s hard to reach in our everyday lives.

Over time, this kind of practice has been shown to ease anxiety and depression. Many people leave the dance floor feeling lighter, more peaceful, and deeply connected to themselves and the world around them.

#4  Guided Imagery

Guided imagery is more than visualization—it’s a full-body experience that taps into our emotions, senses, and inner world. Because it engages us on such a deep, physical level, it can have a powerful impact on how we feel and heal.

Using simple symbols and metaphors, guided imagery speaks to the deeper parts of us—places that words alone can’t always reach. It’s like planting a seed or sending a message below the surface, where it can continue to echo and create shifts long after the moment has passed.

#5  Vocalization

We use our voice in different ways—sometimes through a simple sound like “ah,” a word like “Love,” or an affirmation like “I am healthy.” These sounds may seem simple, but they carry a lot of power.

Our voice is deeply connected to how our body functions and how we've developed over time. When we bring awareness to how we use our voice—feeling it in our body and hearing it as sound—we open up new channels for healing and self-expression. It helps us connect the dots between what we feel inside and how we express ourselves outwardly, and it can even create deeper connections with others.

#6 Mother Earth Rejuvenation

According to Michio Kushi, a teacher of traditional Eastern macrobiotic principles, the Earth’s energy naturally moves upward in a spiraling, life-giving force. When we consciously connect with the Earth, whether through breath, movement, or simply being barefoot on the ground, our bodies begin to reset. It’s like returning to a state we were always meant to live in, one that supports balance, vitality, and natural healing.

James Oschman, a biologist and expert in energy medicine, explains that grounding ourselves with the Earth’s surface can have immediate effects. People often report feeling tension, stress, or even pain begin to release right away, as if the Earth is helping to recalibrate the nervous system and soothe the body on a deep level.

#7  Heaven/Sun/Sourcing

Michio Kushi describes a powerful concept: the energy of the heavens flows downward through us, from above the crown of the head, through the body, and into the Earth. This downward movement is known as centrifugal force, and it's like plugging into an endless source of life energy that's always available to support us.

When we tap into this flow, we’re not just recharging our bodies—we’re also nourishing our emotional and spiritual selves. It’s a reminder that we are never truly disconnected. A constant stream of universal energy flows through us, offering clarity, renewal, and a sense of connection to something greater than ourselves.

#8  Energy Healing/Therapeutic Touch

Michio Kushi speaks of a sacred energy that flows from above—what he calls heaven’s energy. It moves downward through the crown of the head and into the body, a centrifugal force that carries light, clarity, and vitality. This isn’t just a concept; it’s like plugging into an endless, divine power source—always available, always flowing.

When we open ourselves to receive this energy, we invite renewal on every level—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It has the potential to clear mental fog, ease emotional heaviness, and awaken the spirit. This energy reminds us that we are supported by something much greater than ourselves, and that we have the ability to reconnect with it at any moment—through breath, intention, and presence.

#9  Inner Wisdom/Intuition

Dr. Christiane Northrup describes inner wisdom as a direct knowing—truth that comes to us without needing to think it through. It’s that quiet voice, that gut feeling, that sense of “just knowing.” We’re all born with this natural intuition, but most of us were taught to ignore it by the time we were seven.

Modern science even acknowledges that we tap into only a fraction of our brain’s full potential. But through DanceAlchemy practices—like conscious movement, breathwork, body awareness, stillness, and emotional release—we begin to reconnect with that deeper intelligence within us. Intuition becomes a skill we can strengthen.

When tuned in, we can often sense when something’s off, long before it shows up physically. This inner guidance can help us stay ahead of imbalance, supporting our health, clarity, and overall well-being from the inside out.

#10 DanceAlchemy Rules

For everyone to enjoy DanceAlchemy, each person must feel safe and protected against any form of distrust. To facilitate this safety, we follow eight agreements in class.

  1. All movement levels are welcome

  2. Let your body be your guide

  3. Allow your emotions to flow (if emotions rise up, breathe)

  4. This is a NO judgment ZONE (of self or others), so be yourself

  5. Keep yourself safe, move your way, at your own speed and level

  6. Put on a childlike curiosity and have fun. (You are welcome to make sounds and be free)

  7. Prevent talking and distractions (turn your smartphone and electronic devices on “do not disturb” or “airplane mode”)

  8. No touching others unless instructed to. I have found that if you know someone in the room, as you are dancing, you might get the idea to give them a high five or a hug. But if a person is inside of their own experience, especially with their eyes closed, this can be a very jarring experience.

Honor each other’s sacred space. This is an inward journey—an intimate dance between you and your own spirit. Please refrain from touching, grinding, or physically engaging with others. This space is not for domination, influence, or external validation but personal liberation.

You are not defined by anyone else’s energy or presence. No one holds power over your experience, positive or negative. Only you get to choose how you feel, how you move, and how you heal.

You are deeply loved, seen, and supported, exactly as you are. Let us extend that same love to others by giving them the space to be fully present with themselves. Trust the power of your inner journey. Let’s rise together—separately, yet side by side.
